General Questions

Does my car insurance cover me in Europe?
When travelling in Europe by car, it is important - apart from car insurance - to have adequate assistance cover for your vehicle. There are several ways to cover your vehicle in Europe in the event of a breakdown or accident. In particular, you can take out travel insurance that also covers vehicles. Europ Assistance offers you such a formula. With a little planning and preparation, you'll have peace of mind knowing that you and your car are covered while on the move. For exclusive coverage of your car, Drive Assistance covers you from home and even in the event of battery failure or fuel error. If your car cannot be repaired within 2 hours, we will tow it to a garage of your choice. Do you want to cover just your vehicle in Belgium or abroad? Drive Across is the ideal solution! Thanks to our 24/7 assistance, you are safe not only in Belgium but also - depending on the option taken out - in neighbouring countries or elsewhere in Europe.
Which roadside assistance formula is the cheapest?
Europ Assistance offers temporary medical assistance cover with vehicle breakdown cover or, if you only want to cover your vehicle, an annual Drive breakdown insurance policy.
Is there an app I can use for car insurance?
Europ Assistance offers an application that allows its customers to request assistance and manage their contract(s). The app includes features such as vehicle location tracking, roadside assistance and claims management. The Europ Assistance app is available for iOS and Android devices, you can download it here for free. Watch our explanatory videos to discover how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5RjJzd5qeY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k_dwLHY8p3c
Can I subscribe to roadside assistance online?
You can take out and manage all your Europ Assistance insurance contracts by creating an account on our website and logging into your customer area.
Is it possible to add multiple vehicles on the same contract?

Yes, it is possible to insure several vehicles under the same contract.

This will of course have an impact on the premium, depending on the assistance formula chosen.

What is the mobility budget or the travel continuation budget ?

When you can't continue your trip abroad because your car breaks down (or you have an accident), you have a mobility budget. You can find the amount in the General Conditions of your contract.

With this budget we can organise either a return home, or enable you to continue your journey.

We can provide you with a replacement car, a plane ticket, a taxi ride, one or more nights in a hotel, or a combination of these.

It all depends on the situation and your preferences.

If the chosen solution is a rental car, we will take care of arranging the rental using our preferential relationships with rental companies.

Can I get a breakdown insurance for a rental car in my insurance ?

No, rental cars cannot be covered for breakdown service by Europ Assistance. Most rental companies will be able, however, to offer you that option.

What we can offer you, through our VIP travel assistance, is a Car Damage Waiver (CDW).

All assistance formulas or breakdown assistance formulas in which a car can be covered also apply to your motorcycle (> 125cc)

There is no difference in the premium.

We can protect all vehicles with a breakdown assistance up to 3.5 Ton MTM. We cannot offer a solution for a heavier vehicle (including the mobile home).

Can I also cover my van for breakdown assistance?

Absolutely.

Just select the  "Car" option and enter the number plate of the van on the following page.

yes, you can do that as a standard vehicle.

There is no age limit for vehicles, provided it is a private vehicle of less than 3.5 tonnes MTM.

In our vehicle assistance packages, there is no age limit for the covered vehicles.

However, in the case of repatriation from abroad following an accident, we check the current value of the car.

Do I need travel insurance to rent a car?
In general, travel insurance is not required to rent a car. However, there are a few exceptions. For example, if you are renting a car in Europe, you may need to purchase additional insurance from the rental company. This insurance, called "CDW" or "collision damage waiver", covers damage to the rental car. It is important to note that your personal auto insurance policy may not cover damage to a rental car. Luckily, we offer an all-inclusive VIP travel insurance package that also includes rental car CDW insurance!
Is a vehicle registered in a neighbouring country covered?

This is possible but only if the driver is a Belgian resident and if the vehicle is mainly used in Belgium.

The maintenance of the vehicle must therefore be done in a Belgian garage.

I drive to Morocco with my car. Am I covered?

Our travel assistance cover covers you during your trip and in Morocco, depending on the option you choose: choose Morocco in temporary contracts or the World option in annual contracts.

Our vehicle technical assistance cover only covers Europe and therefore does not cover technical problems with the vehicle in Morocco.
