This type of insurance includes coverage for medical expenses and repatriation in the event of a medical emergency. Temporary travel insurance can be purchased for trips within Europe and worldwide. The duration of the trip cannot exceed 45 days. Term travel insurance is generally less expensive than annual travel insurance, but it doesn't offer the same level of coverage. If you're planning a single trip or an extended vacation, annual travel insurance may be a better option, especially if you want higher medical coverage or purchase additional coverages like trip cancellation or baggage insurance. In any case, temporary or annual travel insurance also covers your vehicle in the event of a breakdown or accident in Europe. Why take out travel insurance for a sports trip?
Sports travellers usually expose themselves to higher risks than traditional travellers. Some sporting activities can be very physically demanding and certain behaviours can be dangerous. Going on a sports trip without being covered by travel insurance exposes you to very high medical costs in the event of an accident. Good travel insurance will give you peace of mind and allow you to fully enjoy your trip. Also, since many sports activities require expensive equipment, some travel insurance can help cover the cost of replacing that equipment in the event of theft or damage. Therefore, it is important to carefully consult the guarantees provided for in the assistance contract you wish to take out.

Are all sports covered by the travel assistance?

In our annual assistance contracts (Light, Smart, Sport, VIP), you benefit from medical cover for all sporting activities, EXCEPT for

- incidents or accidents occurring during motorized events (races, competitions, rallies, raids) when you are taking part as a competitor or assistant to a competitor;

- activities involving firearms (except at professional shooting ranges);

- particularly dangerous sporting activities (including extreme sports) that could expose you to serious injury or death if you practice them incorrectly.

The risk involved in these dangerous sports is usually due to the speed, height or depth involved. This type of sport often requires a specific physical effort on the part of the person and/or special equipment.

Dangerous sports activities are thus those described above and practiced by people who

- are unaware that the activity they are practicing is dangerous (lack of training), and/or

- do not respect safety measures, and/or

- practice the activity recklessly and irresponsibly,

thereby exposing themselves to serious injury or death in the event of an accident.

These dangerous sporting activities are nevertheless covered if they are practiced or accompanied by a person who has undergone professional training, attesting to their knowledge and experience of these activities, as well as their commitment to complying with safety standards.

A copy of the official training certificate may be requested.

Am I covered while (scuba) diving?

In all our travel assistance packages, you are covered during your diving. Even if something happens in the decompression chamber, we will intervene.

If you do not have the necessary experience yourself, we recommend you be accompanied by people who have received the necessary professional certification.
