Does my car insurance cover me in Europe?
When travelling in Europe by car, it is important - apart from car insurance - to have adequate assistance cover for your vehicle. There are several ways to cover your vehicle in Europe in the event of a breakdown or accident. In particular, you can take out travel insurance that also covers vehicles. Europ Assistance offers you such a formula. With a little planning and preparation, you'll have peace of mind knowing that you and your car are covered while on the move. For exclusive coverage of your car, Drive Assistance covers you from home and even in the event of battery failure or fuel error. If your car cannot be repaired within 2 hours, we will tow it to a garage of your choice. Do you want to cover just your vehicle in Belgium or abroad? Drive Across is the ideal solution! Thanks to our 24/7 assistance, you are safe not only in Belgium but also - depending on the option taken out - in neighbouring countries or elsewhere in Europe.
Which roadside assistance formula is the cheapest?
Europ Assistance offers temporary medical assistance cover with vehicle breakdown cover or, if you only want to cover your vehicle, an annual Drive breakdown insurance policy.
Is there an app I can use for car insurance?

The Europ Assistance app is available for iOS and Android devices, you can download it here for free. Is it possible to add multiple vehicles on the same contract?

This will of course have an impact on the premium, depending on the assistance formula chosen.

What is the mobility budget or the travel continuation budget ?

When you can't continue your trip abroad because your car breaks down (or you have an accident), you have a mobility budget. You can find the amount in the General Conditions of your contract.

With this budget we can organise either a return home, or enable you to continue your journey.

We can provide you with a replacement car, a plane ticket, a taxi ride, one or more nights in a hotel, or a combination of these.

It all depends on the situation and your preferences.

If the chosen solution is a rental car, we will take care of arranging the rental using our preferential relationships with rental companies.

Will my annual contract be renewed automatically?

A month and a half before the expiry date of your contract, we will send you an invitation to renew your policy. It will be up to you to decide whether or not to accept it.

I've bought a new car. Do I have to change my policy?

You can do this directly through your customer area, or you can call us on 02 541 91 91 during the working hours.

Does the breakdown service also apply to a flat battery?

Do I need travel insurance to rent a car?
In general, travel insurance is not required to rent a car. However, there are a few exceptions. For example, if you are renting a car in Europe, you may need to purchase additional insurance from the rental company. This insurance, called "CDW" or "collision damage waiver", covers damage to the rental car. It is important to note that your personal auto insurance policy may not cover damage to a rental car. Luckily, we offer an all-inclusive VIP travel insurance package that also includes rental car CDW insurance!
Is my breakdown assistance starting at my doorstep ?

Breakdown assistance is available from your home.

However, there is a specific product (the "Annual with vehicle" contract) which only intervenes from a distance of 10km from your home (in the event of an accident, there is no limitation).

Please contact us on 02 541 91 91 if you would like us to adapt your contract.

Can I take out short-term roadside assistance cover?
Many people think that travel insurance includes breakdown assistance coverage. But they are actually very different. Travel insurance is designed to protect you in the event of unforeseen events such as medical issues, trip cancellations or lost luggage. Vehicle technical assistance, on the other hand, is designed to help you in the event of a mechanical failure during your trip (breakdown, immobilisation of your vehicle, accident). Europ Assistance offers temporary medical assistance cover with vehicle breakdown cover or, if you only want to cover your vehicle, an annual Drive breakdown insurance policy.
What is a travel accident?
Travel accidents are events that can happen anytime you are on the go. For example, they can be caused by a car accident, a fall down the stairs, a mishap during a hike or a bad slip at the edge of a swimming pool... Travel accidents can also occur when practising winter sports, such as skiing or snowboarding. If you are injured while travelling, it is important to know what your medical insurance covers and how it can help you and your travel companions. Some travel insurance does not cover winter sports, so if you do this type of activity, be sure to check the coverage before you go.
Can I rely on my breakdown assistance when I lose my car key?

Yes!

In all circumstances that your vehicle is immobilized, we will assist you.

Is it possible to cover a vehicle with a commercial number plate?

Europ Assistance does not cover new commercial number plates ("Z-plates").

Only some older contracts containing this clause cover commercial number plates. (We are happy to help you with all your questions on 02 541 91 91)
