Wat are you looking for ?

Does travel insurance cover me if I catch Covid?
Europ Assistance travel assistance contracts cover travellers for issues related to Covid-19. In the event of a positive Covid-19 diagnosis during your trip, Europ Assistance will cover your medical expenses up to the amount provided for in your contract. If you need to extend your stay to receive treatment, Europ Assistance will cover the cost of your accommodation up to a certain amount.
You are not ill, but you are afraid of contracting the Covid-19 virus at your destination and therefore you want to cancel your trip.

You will need to contact your tour operator, carrier and/or accommodation provider to request cancellation, modification or postponement of the trip. Indeed, in the event of a negative travel advice and in accordance with the legislation, travel agents must allow their clients to cancel their trip free of charge if it is affected by exceptional circumstances (such as an epidemic). The same applies if you have to travel to an area without an epidemiological risk, but with a stopover in an area considered a risk by the local health authorities for the Covid-19.

For high-risk zones, only zones or areas for which the FPS Foreign Affairs has issued a negative travel advice regarding the Covid-19 at the time the trip is undertaken and on condition that this advice was issued after the date of the trip reservation are considered

Will Europ Assistance intervene if I want to visit a family member (insured by my policy) who is in quarantine abroad?

Yes.

Travel insurance covers visits to a person hospitalised abroad for more than 5 days (or shorter in certain contracts or if the person is a child under 18).

No.

A visit to a non-hospitalised person in quarantine is not covered (and is not recommended for health reasons).

Will Europ Assistance intervene if my hotel is placed under quarantine as a result of a government decision and I am charged extra for this extended stay?

A contribution to the cost of extending the stay at the hotel only applies if this extension is imposed on the sick person by doctor's order (positive PCR test). The intervention amounts to a maximum of EUR 500 per sick person and applies if the sick person cannot return to Belgium on the originally scheduled date.
